Atlas of Ambulatory EEG is a first-of-its-kind publication in clinical neurophysiology, an atlas that comprehensively depicts normal, abnormal, and artifactual findings from actual ambulatory EEG recordings in a convenient and easily accessible format. As the use of ambulatory EEG has increased in recent years, the need for a concise atlas of ambulatory EEG has grown significantly, since ambulatory EEG tracings are subject to their own unique issues and artifacts, often not discussed in standard EEG atlases. This book begins with several chapters that introduce the history, technology, and clinical utility of ambulatory EEG. The bulk of the atlas consists of a page-by-page display of high-quality ambulatory EEG excerpts that are easy to review and come with short annotations describing the relevant findings. Atlas of Ambulatory EEG is a critical resource for anyone involved in the interpretation of ambulatory EEG studies.

A handy reference describing EEG patterns in normal and abnormal subjects based upon continuous monitoring techniques from widely used ambulatory EEG equipment.

A section of EEG patterns without accompanying explanation will test the reader's ability to interpret the waveforms and answers will be given in a separate section.

Unique accompanying CD, which provides a sample of EEG files. The files have been provided by Digitrace - a company which maintains a vast library of EEG files.

Internationally renowned contributors in the field.

Anatomy: Anatomical Terms and their Derivation

Publisher: World Scientific Publishing; 1 edition (January 3, 2007)
Language: English
ISBN-10: 981270387X
ISBN-13: 978-9812703873

Anatomical terms are the vocabulary of medicine. Anatomy began as a descriptive science in the days when Latin was the universal scientific language. Early anatomists described the structures they saw in that language, comparing them to common and familiar objects, or borrowing terms from the Greek and Arabic masters before them. In anatomic terminology, common Latin or Greek words are used as such for any part of the body for which the ancients had a name. For many other structures, scientific names have been invented either by using certain classical words which appear to be descriptive of the part concerned, or commonly, by combining Greek or Latin roots to form a new compound term. Memorization of such terms without understanding their meaning can lead to mental indigestion.

The primary objective of neurosurgeons is to achieve the best possible outcome for patients while minimizing nervous-system injury through their interventions. Great advances in the practice of minimally invasive neurosurgery over the past couple of decades have been made possible through technological advances providing increasingly sophisticated instrumentation for use in the operating room, necessitating the acquisition of new surgical skills and know-how. Dissemination of this kind of knowledge was the common goal of two conferences, the 6th International Congress of Minimally Invasive Surgery and the 3rd World Congress of the Academy for Multidisciplinary Neurotraumatology, held concurrently in Nagoya, Japan, in March 2005. This volume of proceedings contains in their entirety the reports submitted at both these meetings, and provides valuable insights into the latest innovations in clinical neurosurgery for practitioners from a broad range of disciplines.

The easiest and most trusted way to learn the clinical application of pharmacokinetics
5 STAR DOODY'S REVIEW!
"This is an important reference that teaches clinically relevant pharmacokinetic dosing and therapeutic drug monitoring tools. This second edition includes updated information on dosing immunosuppressants, as well as dosing concepts in pediatric and hemodialysis patients. The book is intended as an instructive tool in pharmacokinetics for healthcare practitioners who wish to learn these concepts and apply them in their clinical practice. The book satisfies its objectives, outlining important pharmacokinetic concepts in an organized and easy to understand fashion. It is also written by a pharmacist with extensive experience in pharmacokinetics and includes clinically pertinent pearls for individual drugs.
This second edition succeeds at providing updated information on pharmacokinetic concepts. The book presents information in a manner that allows readers to teach themselves about pharmacokinetic dosing and to update their knowledge about clinically relevant concepts for the medications. These concepts are critical because medications are far too often dosed without individual patient characteristics (weight, age, concomitant medications) in mind. It is important to individualize dosing based on pharmacokinetic methods, to monitor levels, and to adjust subsequent dosing based on peaks, troughs, renal, and hepatic function." -- Doody's

  • This best selling text has been completely revised and refreshed in the fourth edition. The authors aim to enthuse family doctors (for whom they are primarily writing) to enjoy the challenge of diagnosing and treating skin conditions.
Clinical Dermatology contains over 500 high quality pictures and diagrams matched with many colourful phrases to illustrate and entertain as it teaches. It has established a reputation as a ‘way of learning’ and as a cogent overview of the subject for the aspiring specialist. Readers are guided through the maze that too often lies between the presenting skin complaint and its final diagnosis and treatment. The authors have created an easily read text with enough detail to clarify the subject but not enough to obscure it.
This fourth edition contains new chapters on racially pigmented skin, dermatology of different age groups and cosmetic dermatology. Relevant internet sites are now clearly highlighted at the end of each chapter and the comprehensive formulary has been updated.
